My name is Svetlana. I was born and grew up in Moscow. During my final year in Moscow Pedagogical University I completed the course “Russian as a Foreign Language” and started with private lessons. Three years ago I spent an academic year teaching Russian in French primary school this included working with groups of children from 5 up to 9; sometimes it was difficult but enormously interesting. In Moscow I continued as a teacher in the language school, I worked with students of different nationalities (American, English, German, Italian, Hungarian, French) and different levels (from beginner to advanced), the tasks always varied – corporate lessons, intensive studies, Russian for business. I really enjoyed this occupation especially when the students made progress and had fun at the same time. In 2008 I left for France to work in college and lyceum, it was great to have practice of teaching in secondary school and learn French at the same time.
Now I am settled in Moscow and continue teaching Russian, I like to work beginners and of course with children. I speak English and French and had experience of teaching in them. Besides languages I am interested in sport, reading, travelling and looking for “treasures” at the flea markets. Подробнее...
Hello! My name is Maria. I was born and grew up in Moscow. I got my Master’s degree from the Philological Faculty of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov and acquired three specializations: Russian Language and Literature, English Language and Russian as a Foreign Language. After graduating, I taught Russian to foreigners, worked in the marketing department of Russia’s First Channel, as well as in a bank.
The range of my interests includes horse riding, world literature, philosophy, biology, and medicine, but never have I regretted choosing the profession of a teacher. Teaching for me is a creative process. I work according to the motto: “Language is not the goal, but the means of communication”. The same can be applied to grammar: with a properly planned class grammar turns from a big problem into a small step towards exciting communication, and getting acquainted with Russian culture and Russian contemporary life.
I have taught Russian to leading journalists from Reuters, employees of foreign consulates, top managers of Samsung, Maersk, Konica and to members of their families. Among my students were graduates from Oxford, Cambridge, Sheffield University and Dickinson College. I am the author of “rapid language acquisition” courses for beginners, as well as of special courses for advanced levels (such as “Russian Musical Culture”). I always adapt my material to the needs of every new student I teach and gather new material to suit each individual’s interests.
I speak fluent English and conversational German. Individual programmes, communicative methodology and interesting discussions guarantee successful learning!

My name is Nina or, in Russian manner, Nina Nikolayevna. I have been teaching Russian as a foreign language for over ten years (both in groups and one-to-one), and it has become part of my soul and way of life. I really enjoy what I am doing, as find myself capable of getting students introduced into Russian culture and extending my knowledge of other peoples life. My six-year experience of living in Britain allowed me to realise that it is an active communication in every-day life that really helps to overcome a barrier of misunderstanding and, as a result, to master a foreign language.
The TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and RFL courses completed respectively at Trinity College London and Pushkin Institute of Russian Language in Moscow make up my professional background. The key method I adhere to in my teaching practice is that of communicative approach, according to which any language is tackled as a means of communication, description, interpretation and discussion.
I believe that language study must be an enjoyable and encouraging process, which is usually achievable by offering students a variety of enacting activities, interesting and informative themes. In case of advanced studies, when needed or requested, I also offer some excerpts from the authentic Russian fiction or press, as well as audio and video material, to let students touch such subtle matters as ‘soul’ and ‘melody’ of the Russian language. All teaching material is selected on account of students’ psychological features, their objectives, motivation, language level and skills, time they have at their disposal, and above all their own suggestions. Apart from spoken and literary Russian, business language and other special programs mainly taught by myself at Pushkin Institute, sometimes I also give some basics of slang to those of my young students who complain about getting confused in their communication with the Russian youngsters.
Born in Moscow, I love and know my native town well enough to take students out (visiting theatres, museums and exhibitions); and my fluent English has proved to be a good assistant in our joint explorations of Moscow cultural life.
Language, philosophy and theology are among those main interests of mine that virtually encourage me to proceed with my PhD research on Alexei N. Tolstoy’s language, which I am currently doing at Pushkin Institute. Подробнее...
